Lissa Ballinger

Acting Director,
THE RESNICK CENTER FOR HERBERT BAYER STUDIES

Lissa Ballinger serves as Acting Director of the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies, and has performed different roles for the Aspen Institute since 2013 — as associate director, art registrar, and curator. Before joining the Institute, Lissa owned an art advisory consulting service and worked with many arts organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley, including the Art Base, the Aspen Music Festival and School, and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. She graduated from Georgetown University and received her Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Columbia University. Lissa is on the Board of the Art Base, a volunteer at the Thrift Shop, and a member of the Elks Lodge.

Andrew Travers

Inaugural Penner Manager
of Educational Programs,
THE RESNICK CENTER FOR HERBERT BAYER STUDIES

Based in Aspen, he is responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating the Center’s educational programming and public
engagement initiatives.

A former newspaper and magazine editor, Andrew has written extensively about the arts and culture among an array of other topics. His recent work has been published by The Atlantic and the Colorado Sun. He began telling the story of Herbert Bayer and Aspen’s art history for the Aspen Daily News and Aspen Times and now does so for the Institute’s Center devoted to the artist’s life and work.

Andrew’s writing and criticism have earned awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, The American Society of Journalists and Authors, Associated Press, Colorado Press Association and Local Media Association.
