Curator Shows

The Aspen Chapel Gallery has 6 individual curators that can choose up to 10 artists for 6 different shows that are created around a theme, specific medium, mixed media, or unique concept.  Each show partners
with a Roaring Fork Valley nonprofit organization.

Each individual curator generally has a medium in which they work, and their shows often are based around that medium.  Specific mediums include watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels, mixed media, ceramics, photography, collage, sculpture, and wood.

Themed shows can relate to the nonprofit organization with whom the gallery is partnering.  Some specific medium shows have included more than one medium, such as a painting show including oils, acrylics, and pastels.  Unique concepts can range from works in a specific size range, a particular style, or using a specific color that is found in the artist’s work.

The curator often works with the co-directors in coming up with a concept for their individual shows with the final decision made by the curator. The curated shows generally run around 6 weeks, and the curator works with the co-directors for the installation and taking down the show. Also the curators work with the selected artists
to make sure they are ready for the show opening.
